Common Questions

All FAQs
Which extension method is right for me?

It comes down to how long you want to wear them and how much you want to do yourself. Clip-ins and halos go in and out the same day with no stylist. Tape-ins, wefts, and keratin bonds are installed by a stylist and worn for weeks to months at a time.

How do I match my color?

Match the ends of your hair, not the roots - that is where extensions sit. If you are between two shades, order swatches or send us a photo through the Hair Matching Service and we will tell you which one to buy.

Will extensions blend with my curly or coily hair?

Yes, if you match the pattern, not just the color. We make wavy, deep wave, kinky curly, kinky straight, and coily textures for 3A through 4C hair, in clip-ins, wefts, and bulk hair for braiding. Straight extensions on curly hair never blend, no matter the shade.

What is safest for fine or thinning hair?

Lightweight methods that spread the weight out. Halos and seamless clip-ins put nothing on the scalp, and tape-ins distribute weight across a flat weft instead of pulling on a single section. Skip heavy wefts and bonds until your hair can carry them.

How much hair do I need?

For clip-ins, one full set is enough for most people. For tape-ins and wefts, plan on three to five packs for a full head - more if your hair is thick or you are going for length and volume together.

How long do extensions last?

With proper care, six to twelve months or longer. Clip-ins last longest because they are worn less. Tape-ins and wefts are reinstalled every six to eight weeks and the hair itself is typically reused for three to six months.

Can I dye or tone my extensions?

You can go darker. Lightening or bleaching damages the hair and voids the return policy, so if you need a lighter shade, buy it lighter and tone down. Have a colorist do it if you can - extensions do not have a scalp feeding them oils, so they take color faster than your own hair.

What does Remy actually mean?

The cuticles are intact and all running the same direction, root to tip. That is what keeps hair from tangling and matting after a few washes. A lot of hair sold as Remy is not - it is why we source our own Virgin Indian hair instead of buying from brokers.

Do I need a stylist?

Not for clip-ins or halos. For tape-ins, wefts, and keratin bonds, yes - placement and tension are what protect your natural hair, and a bad install is how extensions get their reputation for damage.
