Nothing pairs better with warm sweaters and layers than full, voluminous hair. Unfortunately getting that kind of bouncy volume is something that many gals struggle with. We rounded up five of our favorite cheats for more volume that will allow even those of us with the most “ho hum” hair to rock it during pumpkin and peppermint season!
IT’S ALL IN THE TEASE!
One of the easiest methods to get 3 to 4 inches of volume is the simple and classic method of teasing hair. Done correctly and you can lift even the smoothest of hair to new heights, but done poorly and you end up with a tangled, frizzy mess. Celebrity hairdressers do this technique reliably: working the roots only with a large paddle brush (don’t use combs). After you’ve teased out your hair, lock the look in place by spraying each section with hairspray.
OUR CLIP-INS GIVE YOU INSTANT VOLUME
Our Perfect Locks clip-in hair extensions are one of the fastest and easiest ways to cheat your way to fuller, bouncier hair. In less than a minute you can apply our Perfect Locks one piece clip-in volumizer and get 60% more volume for ear to ear coverage. We offer then in 6 natural colors, 3 different textures and 2 different lengths (16” or 20”). Where normally you need to tease and play with other clip-ins for 15 to 20 minutes to look right, our Perfect Locks Clip-In Volumizers have an InvisiNET™ integration pattern that allows for seamless blending with your natural hair!
HACK YOUR HAIR WITH A PART CHANGE
Your hair and follicles have memory and all of us have a natural part that we’ve formed over time. Because we default to our favorite part when styling our hair, the hair tends to lie the flattest there. To add some volume, while your hair is still damp from the shower, simply flip your part to the opposite side. This simple technique gives you more volume at the crown and requires little more than a deep part and then misting lightly with hairspray to hold the look in place.
CRIMPING IS BACK AND IT CAN HELP
Hair crimping was a major trend in the 90s and early 2000’s and since then the fashion cycle has had hair and fashion trends from those eras resurfacing. While all over crimping may not be your cup of tea, the technique can actually fake some fullness if you crimp the roots only. This technique will add structure to the base of your hairstyle, giving you voluminous lift that merely needs hairspray to stay for the day!
FLIP IT UPSIDE DOWN
The old school technique of flipping your head upside down and going straight to blow out town is a technique that is so enduring because it actually works. With your head down, your hair roots lift off your scalp, allowing you to dry and set them in a more vertical state. Blow dry your hair to about 90% before flipping your hair back up and do final smoothing and styling with a round brush.
