Hand-Tied Weft Extensions

The extension stylists request by name. Each strand in our hand-tied weft extensions is individually knotted to a base so thin it disappears against the scalp - lighter than machine wefts, flatter than everything else, and the gold standard for beaded row and sew-in installations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to your most common questions below.

Hand-tied wefts are constructed by hand, which makes the base thinner, flatter, and more flexible than machine wefts. They lay flush against your head, which means less bulk and a more natural look - especially if your hair is fine or you want a seamless blend. Machine wefts are sturdier and can be cut without unraveling, so they're better for customized sizing.

They're ideal for anyone who wants a thin, flat weft that disappears into their hair. They work especially well for fine to medium hair because the lightweight construction doesn't create bulk. They're also a favorite among stylists who specialize in natural-looking installs. If you have very thick hair and want maximum volume, a hybrid weft might be a better fit.

A stylist installs them using a beaded row method - small beads are threaded along a horizontal section of your hair to create a track, and the weft is sewn onto that track. No glue, no heat, no adhesive touching your hair. It's a professional-only application, but the result is incredibly flat and comfortable. Most customers say they forget they're wearing them.

The hair itself lasts 6 to 12 months or more with proper care. You'll need move-up appointments every 6 to 8 weeks where your stylist repositions the beaded rows as your hair grows out. During each move-up, they'll check the hair condition and resew the wefts. Most customers get multiple rounds of wear from a single set.

This is important - hand-tied wefts should not be cut across the weft. Because the hair is tied by hand in a continuous method, cutting can cause it to unravel and shed. If you need a narrower weft, fold the edges under instead. If you need wefts that can be cut to size, our machine wefts or hybrid wefts are better options.

Brush gently from the bottom up, being careful around the beaded rows. Use a sulfate-free shampoo and condition from mid-length to ends. When washing, don't scrub at the attachment points - let the water and shampoo flow through. Sleep with your hair in a loose braid to prevent tangling around the rows.

Not when they're installed and maintained properly. The beaded row method doesn't use any adhesive or heat on your hair, and the tension is distributed evenly along the track. The main thing is keeping your move-up appointments on schedule so the rows don't grow too far from your scalp.

Most full installations use 2 to 4 rows of wefts, depending on your hair's thickness and the volume you're after. Fine hair usually does well with 2 rows, while thicker hair may need 3 or 4. Your stylist will customize the placement during your consultation. Send us a photo if you'd like a general idea before your appointment.
