Hybrid weft extensions combine the best of both worlds - the security of a hand-tied weft with the durability of a machine weft. Caring for them properly while installed ensures they stay beautiful and your natural hair stays healthy.

The First 48 Hours

After installation, wait at least 48 hours before washing your hair. This allows the wefts to settle and your scalp to adjust. Avoid heavy sweating during this time if possible - skip the intense workout or sauna session.

Washing

Wash your hair 2-3 times per week, or as needed based on your activity level and scalp type. The key is washing in the right direction. Always work from root to tip in smooth, downward strokes - never flip your head upside down, pile your hair on top of your head, or scrub back and forth. These motions can cause severe tangling at the weft attachment points.

Use a sulfate-free shampoo and focus it on your scalp, using your fingertips to gently massage. Let the suds run down through the lengths as you rinse. Apply conditioner from mid-length to ends only - keeping it away from the weft bonds and your scalp, which can cause slippage and buildup.

Rinse thoroughly until the water runs completely clear. Conditioner residue near the attachment points can cause the wefts to slide.

Drying

Gently squeeze out excess water with a soft towel - never rub vigorously. Air drying is gentlest on both your extensions and the attachment points, but if you need to blow dry, use a medium heat setting and always blow in a downward direction. Avoid pointing the dryer directly at the weft attachment area for extended periods.

Never go to bed with wet hair. The combination of moisture and friction from your pillow creates tangles that are difficult to remove without damaging the hair.

Daily Brushing

Brush your extensions 2-3 times daily using a loop brush or extension-safe paddle brush. This is the single most important thing you can do to prevent matting. Pay special attention to these problem areas: the nape of your neck where friction from clothing causes tangles, behind your ears where hair tends to rub together, and directly above where the wefts are attached.

Hold the hair near the weft with one hand while brushing with the other - this prevents pulling on the attachment points. Start at the ends and work your way up in small sections.

Nighttime Routine

Before bed, gently brush through your hair, then secure it in a loose braid or low ponytail. This prevents the lengths from tangling while you sleep. Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase, which creates less friction than cotton and helps maintain moisture in the hair.

Activities and Lifestyle

Swimming is fine, but wet your hair with clean water first and apply a leave-in conditioner - this creates a barrier against chlorine and salt water. After swimming, rinse immediately and follow with your normal wash routine. Avoid hot tubs, as the high heat and chemicals can damage both the hair and the attachment method.

When working out, secure your hair in a low braid or ponytail. After exercising, let your scalp dry fully before putting your hair up again - trapping sweat against the wefts can cause odor and slippage.

Heat Styling

Your hybrid weft extensions can be heat styled just like your natural hair. Always apply heat protectant first, and keep tools at 300-350 degrees. When curling or straightening, work in sections and avoid clamping directly on the weft - stay at least an inch below the attachment point.

Products to Use and Avoid

Stick with lightweight, sulfate-free products. Heavy oils, serums, and masks can cause buildup at the attachment points and weigh down the hair. Avoid any products containing alcohol near the bonds, as this can cause drying and slippage.

Great products for weft extensions include lightweight leave-in conditioners, heat protectant sprays, anti-humidity serums, and dry shampoo for refreshing between washes.

Maintenance Appointments

Your wefts will need to be moved up every 6-8 weeks as your natural hair grows. Don't skip these appointments - as your hair grows out, the wefts sit lower on your head, which can cause discomfort and put stress on your natural hair. Your stylist will also check the condition of the wefts and your natural hair during these visits.

Between appointments, check your wefts periodically by feeling along the attachment points. If you notice any looseness, unusual shedding, or discomfort, contact your stylist before your scheduled appointment.

Deep Conditioning

Treat your extensions to a deep conditioning mask every 2-3 weeks. Apply from mid-length to ends, avoiding the scalp and attachment points. Leave on for the recommended time (usually 10-20 minutes), then rinse thoroughly. This keeps the hair soft, shiny, and tangle-free.
