What does it mean if strands slip out of my hair?

If your fusion i-tips are slipping out of your hair, it may be an indication of several issues. Firstly, it could be that the extensions were not installed correctly, causing the keratin bond to not adhere to your natural hair properly. Secondly, it may be due to the natural shedding process of your hair, causing the bond to loosen and the extensions to fall out. Additionally, if you're not using the recommended aftercare products or if you're using heat styling tools excessively, this can also weaken the bond and cause slippage. Lastly, some hair conditioners are known to weaken the bond of the keratin, so when shampooing and conditioning, we advise not to apply product directly near the root.

How to InstallQuick step-by-step application guide

1. Sectioning & Preparation 3 min

Start by sectioning the client’s hair into clean, horizontal rows, beginning at the nape of the neck. Ensure the hair is completely dry and free of oils or product buildup for maximum hold.

2. Bead Placement 2 min

Use a loop tool to thread a silicone-lined bead onto a small section of natural hair. Slide the bead up close to the scalp, leaving a small gap (about ¼ inch) for natural movement.

3. Insert the I-Tip Extension 1 min

Insert the I-Tip extension into the bead, ensuring the tip is fully enclosed within the bead. Avoid overlapping too much natural hair, as this can cause slipping.

4. Securing the Beads 1 min

Use a professional crimping tool to clamp the bead securely, locking the extension in place. Repeat the process row by row, maintaining even spacing for a seamless, natural blend.

5. Repeat and Blend 10 min

Once every extension is installed, brush gently to blend them into the natural hair. Tell the client to keep oil-based products away from the beads and to book a maintenance appointment every 6 to 8 weeks as the bonds grow out.
