Satin Dreams: Sleeping in Your Hair Extensions

sleeping on satin pillow

Did you know that sleep plays a huge part in your daily functioning? Every day sleep gives your brain the energy it needs to function and the precious night hours provide time for your skin, hair, and body to recuperate. The night time is also when you should be taking care of yourself, which means applying proper beauty treatment to your face and hair.

If you have hair extensions you don’t really need to apply any special product to your hair every night, besides an occasional deep conditioning treatment in the shower. You do however need to make sure that after you’re done washing your hair that it dries before going to bed. The reason why is if you go to sleep with wet hair your strands of hair will rub against one another, creating hair damage and breakage. To prevent braided hair for sleepthis from happening shower after work or earlier in the afternoon on the weekends to give your locks enough time to air dry. As we’ve discussed several times before, only blow dry your hair extensions if you are in a rush because the heat from the hair dryer will also cause unneeded damage to your tresses.

After your hair is dry and you are ready to hit the sack there are a few suggestions that we have so that your locks stay in excellent condition.

Wear a lose braid to sleep in to prevent hair tangling.

Wearing a lose braid keeps your locks all in one place and also keeps your hair in tact so that it won’t rub against other hair strands, creating split ends. Remember to make sure your hair is dry though and when you wake up in the morning and take the braid out your hair, you will have gentle waves. You are all set to go to work or get your day started!

Use a satin pillowcase to guard your hair against matting!

Not only will a satin pillowcase be comfy for your head to lie down on, but it also will keep your locks from being harmed from a rough surface! The idea is to treat your locks with extra T.L.C., which means going the distance to maintain their natural luster and beauty. A satin pillow definitely will keep your hair in tip top shape.

Sounds pretty simple, right? We think so and we definitely think your locks are worth it. Keep them perfect and follow these simple tips and have a great night’s rest full of sweet dreams.
