Congratulations, you just received your Perfect Locks hair!
Now you’re probably wondering what to do after you take it out of our velvet pouch. Well, we have a few steps and precautions that you can do before installing! Read the following below so you can enjoy the most out of your hair.
Quick Note: Due to our strict 14-day return and exchange policy, once the hair is out of the purple zip-ties or it has been cut or altered, we are unable to honor a return and exchange. As for wigs, once the lace is cut or it has been cut or altered it also voids our return and exchange policy. If you want to look over our flexible policy click this link to know more https://www.perfectlocks.com/pages/return-policy
One step that you can choose to do is, wash the hair within the purple zip-ties. While washing the hair, we like to suggest that you use paraben-free and sulfate-free hair products. This is to make sure that hair stays intact and that the hair is not damaged from harmful products. We highly recommend using a high-quality hair care line like Inspire, it's specially formulated, tested, and proven to work with our hair. The best thing about our products is that it’s not only paraben-free and sulfate-free, but it also smells like creamsicles! When washing the hair, make sure you cater to the right textures. For example, if you have straight hair and order curly hair, curly hair textures require a little more maintenance. Once you have finished washing and drying the hair, make sure the texture is to your liking. If it is, go ahead and take the extensions out of the zip-ties and install!
How to Wash Straight Hair
For our straight hair, use your normal wash routine. Make sure to shampoo the hair and condition the hair. When the conditioner is still in the hair, brush through it with a wide-tooth comb or brush for hair extensions from the bottom up. This helps prevent tangling. Our straight hair has a slight bend and can even wave up when washed. To get a bone straight look you can use a flat iron.
When you have finished washing the hair, you can go the extra mile and add argan oil or a silk serum. Once done, lay the hair flat and let it air dry.
How to Wash Wavy Hair
For wavy hair, we like to suggest that you shampoo then deep condition the hair. When the deep conditioner is still in the hair, use a wide-tooth comb and start combing through the hair. Make sure to start from the bottom up to prevent tangling. When you have finished washing, scrunch the hair to make sure the waves are looking beautiful. If you want to go the extra mile, you can always add our leave-in conditioner or argan oil. Once done, lay the hair down and let it air dry.
How to Wash Curly Hair
Curly hair tends to be a bit more complex other textures, and comes with it's own set of challenges compared to straight or wavy hair. This is the exact reason we've developed our own line of curly hair care products. With conditioner in the hair, run your fingers through first. Then brush through the hair from the bottom up. This should get all the kinks and knots out. Rinse out the conditioner out completely. Finally, spritz the hair with our nourishing spray to hydrate the curls - Then scrunch the hair for more defined curls or run your fingers through for looser waves. Once the hair pattern is to your liking, let it air dry.
Check the Length and Color
Another step to do when you first receive the hair is to make sure the color matches your hair. To do so, take the hair up to your own and twist the hair. We know it sounds a little weird, however, it better ensures that the color matches. If you don’t want to twist the hair, you can always finger-comb your hair with our extensions, to see if it blends. If the color matches, you can go ahead and take them out of the zip-ties and install them.
The last step to do before taking the hair our of the zip-ties, is doing a length check. If you have received our clip-in sets or volumizers, put them up to the middle of your head and see if that is the right length for you. If you have received our other extensions like tape-ins, weaves, or bulk hair, place them near the crown of your head. This will help determine if this is the right length for you. If everything is up to par, go ahead and remove those zip-ties and install them!
How to Wash Human Hair Wigs & Hairpieces
When receiving your wig, make sure to follow the first step, washing the hair. Refer to our washing steps with the right textures. This will help you see how the hair will react after washing and then drying. If the hair is up to your standards, continue to try on the wig. Our wig cap is a medium cap, so if it is a little big for you, we included an extra adjustable strap for you. Adjust the wig as needed! If you feel like the wig is good to go, you can go ahead and cut the lace and style!
