When deciding how much you need to buy, you want to also look at the current length of your hair and how thick your natural hair is. If you have thick hair, you’ll end up needing more hair to create a “fuller” natural look, whereas if you have fine hair, you’ll generally need less hair. There’s no real right or wrong answer, but two of the most important factors are:
- The hair you’re starting with
- The hairstyle you’re going for
Below is our suggested table of how much hair you need to purchase depending on the type of hair extension you are buying:
- Tape-ins: Minimum of 4 packs for volume and length, minimum of 6 packs for a full head
- I-Tips & U-Tips Fusion: Minimum of 4 packs for length and volume, minimum of 6 packs for a full head
- Hand Tied Wefts: Minimum of 2 packs for volume, minimum of 4 for length
- Machine wefts: Minimum of 2-3 packs
- Bulk hair: Minimum of 3 packs
- Beaded wefts: Minimum of 2 packs for volume, minimum of 4 for length
