The low messy bun: The most casual and versatile. Gather extension hair and natural hair together, twist loosely, coil around into a bun shape, and pin with bobby pins rather than an elastic. Pull pieces loose intentionally for the effortless aesthetic. Extensions add the fullness that makes this style look voluminous rather than sparse.
The structured low chignon: The polished version of the low bun. Smooth all hair into a low, sleek ponytail first, then coil and tuck into a flat, smooth bun shape. Uses more pins and smoothing product than the messy version. The extension hair adds volume to the bun that prevents it from sitting too flat.
The high bun: Gathered at the crown for a more dramatic silhouette. Works well with clip-in extensions as long as the wefts are well-secured before pulling upward. The extension mass at the crown creates a full, round bun shape.
The braided bun: Braid hair first, then coil the braid into a bun. A more textured, detailed version that works for occasions. The braid adds visual interest and holds the bun shape well without requiring as many pins.
