Snip the Labels: Creating Your Own Personal Style
This entry was posted on September 17, 2013.
Even some of the most well-dressed people in the world don’t realize that there’s a difference between fashion and style. You can wear all the things that runways and magazines tell you to wear and style your hair in the most trendy fashions, but you still may lack style. Fashion comes from what others say is beautiful, popular, and desirable. It’s actually pretty easy to just follow the advice of designers to achieve a look that is fashionable. Style takes fashion a step further and creates looks that uniquely express your personality. In addition, it allows you to choose what you love and experiment with elements you want to incorporate into your look, such as our Steam Collection hair extensions. Style is also achieved when three things converge: How you see yourself, how others see you, and how you want others to see you.
How You See Yourself
Even if you feel like you don’t know yourself well or haven’t lived enough years to truly understand what makes you tick, chances are that your friends know you pretty well and can give some good advice on what clothes suit your personality. Even if you ask them for their advice, be sure to take some time on your own to think through the things you like and dislike. Look at outfits you wore as a kid. Did you like bright colors? Specific designs? Do a little self-evaluation. How do you feel about yourself? Do you love yourself enough to improve your appearance? If not, determine why not and seek encouragement from trusted friends.
