Honey is a natural sweetener that is much healthier than processed white sugar. Try a adding a teaspoon to your morning smoothies for a natural boost to quench your sweet tooth. On your hair it is a natural humectant that can soften the strands and attract moisture. Add it before playing in the sun to naturally lighten your tresses for true honey colored highlights!
Avocados are rich in healthy fatty oils such as omega 6 and 12. Opt for it on your sandwiches in place of your usual mayonnaise spreads for a heart healthy lunch. On your hair avocados can be mashed and mixed with a bit of oil or yogurt for an amazing deep conditioning treatment.
Coconut oil is known to contain medium chain fatty acids which can increase the body’s metabolism and increase the levels of high density or “good” cholesterol. It is also loaded with vitamin e, which is known to be very healthy for the hair and skin. Use it to sauté your veggies while it is on your hair as a hot oil treatment.
Water makes up about 50% of a woman’s body and every one of our metabolic functions depend on it. Drinking at a minimum of 64 ounces per day prevents dehydration, keeping our body in tip top shape. On our hair, water is the ultimate moisturizer, helps detangle, is used to shampoo and steam condition and more. Hair cannot be its healthiest if you don’t have enough water in your life.
Healthy hair starts from the inside out. Any foods that serve both purposes are definitely pluses in our book!
