Cute Colored Extensions: A Bit of Glamorous Fun

Musicians tend to be on the cutting edge of fashion, but many of their fashion choices are only possible because they don’t work in a conservative, professional atmosphere where their appearance could diminish how much respect they receive. For the rest of us, we often have to adapt our fashion choices to be practical in our real lives, which means that highlighting our hair in unnatural colors is a no-no. However, if you want to add some pizzazz to your hair for a night out on the town, colored extensions mixed in with your natural extensions are a fabulous way to do so. Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, and Avril Lavigne show us how.
Miley’s color is subtle here, yet it stands out against her dark locks. She’s got a significant amount of natural-color extensions in her hair as well to give it that massively glamorous volume, which sets off the color of her highlights perfectly. Big waves and a loose, wild style complete this look that is both fun and sexy. If you’re using clip in extensions for your natural hair as well, intersperse colored clip-ins with the natural highlights to hide all clips and distribute the highlights well.
Katy may just be the queen of coloring her hair, and we love the more subtle pastels in her hair for this unforgettable style. To replicate at home, use some natural color extensions to give lift and body to your hair, then clip in colored highlights, using your natural hair to cover the clips. Choose no more than three colors. The blue, purple, and pink Katy chose are perfect, because they add some whimsy without looking clownish. Any more than three colors, and you may be sent to the circus.
Natural color extensions give the back section of Avril’s hair body and shine, while colored extensions highlight her face. Be sure to take a look at your skin tone before deciding what colors to use to see which ones will best compliment your complexion. Clip in extensions may not work as close to the front of your face, but a non-permanent way to achieve this look is possible through using clip in extensions on the sides of your face and chalking in a similar color through and around your bangs.
