Indian hair types and application methods Indian hair types and application methods
There are many different types of hair extensions, but hair extensions typically only come in two forms. There are differences in the way hair extensions are prepared, in the technique used to attach it to your own hair. Here are descriptions of the two hair types and the four primary methods and procedures for application:

    1. Indian Bulk Hair
    2. Indian Wefted Hair
    3. Clip-on Indian Hair
    4. Pre-tipped Indian Hair

    Indian Bulk Hair

This refers to hair which is not attached to a weft track. Bulk hair is loose. It is used primarily for stand bonding and braiding. Buying hair in bulk allows for the best flexibility in terms of pricing and distribution methods. Bulk hair can also be bonded to the hair, using many different methods: from clips to adhesive.

Bulk hair is used by many stylists and companies in the creation of Indian wigs, lace front wigs, braids, keratin tips, nail tips, high tips, clip ins, and the stitching of wefts.

    Indian Wefted Hair

Weft hair is simply hair that is sewn together in a continuous strip at the root end of the hair shaft, they are often called tracks. Indian weft hair is used mainly to give a natural hair look to you head. Wefted hair comes in two types, machine wefted and hand tied. Hand tied wefts are made with hand and it is a lobor extensive process where it takes 5 hrs for one person to make a bundle of 4 oz. It requires applying the Weft by sewing it to your own hair. Machine wefts are made by using special wefting machines. Due to the high cost of hand-made products, most extension hair is machine wefted in fine, medium or heavy wefts. Medium wefts are used for the majority of wefted extension hair. Hand tied wefted hair is more expensive but is often preferred due to its light weight. Hand tied hair also resist shedding better.

Wefted hair may be used for strand bonding and braiding and is preferred by stylist as it allows the stylist to use only what is needed greatly reducing the amount of waste. Wefts can be bonded directly to the clients hair using special bonding glue. Care must be taken not to bond the wefts directly to the scalp, as it can cause sensitivities in some clients... it is best to have this procedure done by a professional hair stylist. Infrequently, wefts may be clipped in, with specially made clips sewn to the wefts themselves. This makes for a more temporary style, and is easily removed. Clipped-in wefts may add temporary color, length or fullness perhaps for a single event, such as a prom or wedding.

Machine Wefts vs. Hand Tied Wefts

These wefts are very similar in theory. Hand tied wefts are done by tying strands of hair around a strong weaving thread. Assuming the weft is tied tightly with care, we can then assume that the weft is very strong and will last a long time, possibly longer than a machine weft. Hand stitched items usually have a longer longevity because of the care and precision involved. Hand tied wefts should never be cut from the top. If it is cut, then you should seal it with a good glue like nail glue or fabric glue. There is no gurantee that it will not shed if it is cut. Also, one should never sew through top of the weft and it is recommended you sew around the weft. The biggest difference is that with machine wefts, you can cut where desired.

Quality is always a concern with either machine wefts or hand-tied wefts. If we assume they are both of equal quality, then it really comes down to a matter of preference. Which one are you most comfortable with and/or which one have you heard better things about from your friends? They are done by hand . These wefts are much thinner than machine wefts and lay flat on the scalp. Machine wefts are done by sewing strands of hair together with a hair sewing machine. It also comes down to what your stylist prefers, you should always consult your stylist before making your decision. If you would like more information from us just give us a call and ask!

    Hair Application Methods

    Fusion Strand by Strand

This process is done strand by strand in small sections using heated adhesive sticks or glue specifically made for hair extensions. Extension hair is added directly to your own hair. Fusion is generally the preferred method as fused hair extensions can last up to three to six months with skilled application and proper care. With fusion hair extensions, the extensions should be indistinguishable from your natural hair. If properly applied, the attachment site should be virtually invisible.

    Indian Hair Weaving

Weaving is by far the most popular technique. Weaving is a process where a corn row or track is created around the head and close to the scalp. Extension hair is sewn on the tracks. Your own hair lies over the tracks for a natural look. Depending upon how much hair you need depends on how many tracks you have. For example: If you had hair to your chin and you wanted hair to your bra line (about 18" long) you might need 5 or 6 tracks/wefts depending upon my current haircut. If you had hair to your shoulders that was thin and stringy and you wanted it thicker and more luscious but the same length you might need 2 or 3 (or more) tracks/wefts. Once the tracks are done, the wefts are sewn to them and then your own crown area hair is blended with and combed over the extensions. From now on you have to think of the extensions as YOUR HAIR.

Clip in and Clip on Hair Extensions

You may clip these in and out yourself. The techique is the least permanenet but the most convenient. It is quite easy to construct these yourself from bulk hair that we sell.

Indian Hair Bonding with Pre-tipped Hair

This is the easiest method for a more permanent hair installation solution. Bonding is a process where bonding glue is applied onto the weft of the extension hair and then applied at the root of your hair. A weft is horizontal hair strands attached together at the top of vertically flowing hair strands. Wefts can be machine-made or handmade.

    Indian Hair Netting

This technique requires braiding the hair under a thin, breathable net that lays flat on a surface that stylists weave the extensions onto. The stylist is not limited to sewing extensions to a braid or track, so it offeres much more flexibility This type of installation can last up to three weeks, but you need to make sure that the hair is dried properly when washed... otherwise mildew and mold could collect under the actual netting.
