    Category: How-to's, Installation, videos Tags: , ,

Whether you are just curious to the wefted hair extension installation process or are a seasoned professional, this 4 minute 30 second video walks you through the basics while giving you valuable techniques. We have not shown the installation of the netting because it is a lengthy process, please consult your stylist for more information.

Two bundles (8 oz. total) of our very popular hand-tied Indian hair wefts are used in this video. We also have machine wefts available, the only difference is the track is a little bit thicker and does not lay as flat as the hand-tied weft.

    Perfect Hair Extension Results

Category: General Hair Care, Hair Extension Tips, Human Hair Extensions Tags: , ,

If you are spending your hard earned money on a product or service, you naturally want to get your money’s worth, right?  And naturally, if you want some hair extensions, then you want to have the perfect result, right?  Most salons and stylists would promise to give you the ‘perfect result’ each time you ask.  But what entails a “perfect result” when it comes to hair extensions anyway?

But let’s get some things straight first.  Hair extensions will never be perfect.  ‘Perfect’, for me, would mean permanence.  And let’s face it, if you get some hair extensions, you’d be lucky if they last for the better part of the year.  However, you can get as close to perfect as you can – and in the case of hair extensions, near-perfection means the maximum amount of longevity and excellent quality. Make sure you deal with a reputable vendor who is well known in the industry.

    Maximum Longevity

Hair extensions typically last for four to six months.  But that really depends on the type of fusion you used.  Hot fusion in hair extensions is a very popular method and it costs less but its longevity is lower than that of cold fusion.  Cold fusion has just recently been rising in popularity, it definitely lasts longer and produces better results.

Longevity also depends on how you take care of your new hair extensions, here are some hair care tips.  If you don’t follow your stylist’s instructions to the letter, then your hair extensions wouldn’t last as long as your stylist promised that they would.  Using too many chemicals would also shorten the longevity of your extensions because too much chemical treatment would destroy the hair’s cuticles.  And the cuticles are usually the ones offering protection.

    Excellent Quality

Also, the state of the cuticles has an influence not only over the hair extension’s longevity but also on the quality.  Chinese hair usually doesn’t last very long since it is excessively treated with chemicals and its natural cuticles have already been removed.  European hair is also good but it’s really hard to find genuine European hair in the market.  And also, you could expect that European hair has already been treated with chemicals even before it was cut.  Good quality Indian hair, on the other hand, has good longevity because its cuticles are still intact.  Indian hair is not called virgin Remy hair for nothing.  It is known for it’s durability and beautiful presentation.  Women in India use natural herbs to clean their hair so their cuticles are usually in good health. Indian hair extension history is very meaningful and has deep roots, it’s all a very interesting process!

Excellent quality also means that your hair extensions should look natural.  And for this, the type of weft is vital.  Hand-tied wefts usually look more natural than machine wefts. Some people feel that machine wefts are more durable and have thinner wefts, it really just comes down to personal preference. Here are a couple more important tips you should keep in mind.

How to Clean Your Hair Extensions

Category: Hair Extension Tips, How-to's Tags: , ,

It’s very important to treat your hair extensions properly to ensure the longevity of them.  We highly recommended that you wash your hair 3 to 4 times per week, especially after active events like swimming or exercising.  Your hair can be washed with cold or warm water, so the choice is up to you!  If you are planning to deep condition your hair, just leave the conditioner in for 3 to 5 minutes before rinising it out with warm water.

The most important part is what you do after your hair is washed.  You must be very careful and treat your hair with care… this includes not rubbing or ruffling the hair.  It’s best to put a towel on your head and let the water soak into the towel.  You must never sleep on wet hair, sleeping on wet hair extensions is known to matte the hair badly… this is a surefire method to ruin your extensions so don’t do it!

Your hair must be combed everyday, especially after each wash.  We highly advise that you comb the hair from the ends upwards, this method helps prevent shedding by keeping the pressure away from the wefted area near your scalp.  We have many answers to your Indian hair frequently asked questions.

It’s best to routinely practice these advice tips, brushing your hair each day is an especially important thing to you.  You can train your self to brush first thing in the morning, just lean your head forward and use a soft brush to gently brush your hair from the root end toward your scalp.  We care about our Indian hair extension customers and want them to learn how they can help ensure the longevity of their hair.

    How to Create Pin Curls

Category: General Hair Care, How-to's Tags: , ,

Pin curls were a big style in the 1920’s when curling barrels weren’t always around.  Pin curls are a great way to get beautiful and long lasting curls. You don’t have to go to an expensive salon to get the perfect curls, because we are going to show you how.

There are two ways you can create pin curls:

    Wet Set

Step 1: Wash and shampoo your hair thoroughly. Towel dry your hair, you can leave your hair damp. Comb or use your fingers to detangle any pieces of hair. If your hair doesn’t hold curls well, you can apply some setting lotion.
Step 2: Gather together bobby pins and a rat tail comb.
Step 3: Use a comb to divide you’re into small one inch sections. One by one wrap each section around your finger tightly while holding your finger close to your head. Slowly slip your finger off the hair and pin the hair down to your head with a bobby pin. You may need to use two hair pins.
Step 4: Continue repeating Step 3 until your whole head is in pin curls. Before you go to sleep make sure you wrap your hair in a silk scarf.

    Dry Set

Step 1: Wash and shampoo your hair as if you would doing a wet set. Comb the tangles out of your hair and blow dry your hair on cool or if you want you can let your hair air dry.
Step 2: With your bobby pin and rat tail comb nearby, section hair into one inch sections and apply setting lotion or “spit” as they did in the 1920’s.
Step 3: This is where the difference from a wet set comes into play. One by one twist the section of hair, starting with the ends all the way to the roots. Wind the twisted hair around your finger and pin your hair done to your head with bobby pins.

By doing either a dry or wet set you can create beautiful pin curls that will last for at least a week. All you have to do is wake up in the morning and just simply have beautiful hair!

    5 Tips to Better Hair

Category: General Hair Care, Healthy Hair Tips Tags: , ,

Like everyone living on the planet earth, we all want to maintain our hair and make our hair healthier. Maybe you’ve already read “5 tips to Treat Damaged Hair” and want just want to make your hair better.  Despite our difference in looks in and lifestyle we can all have healthy and lustrous hair, here are some tips that can help all of us:

    Tip # 1
Using heat less often can make your hair healthier. Using a lot of heat makes your hair dry and brittle which then leads to split ends. If you wear curls everyday try using rollers or creating pin curls to achieve your curls. To straighten hair you can use a paddle brush to make sure your lengths are straight and smooth. That way you don’t have to use a flat iron.

    Tip # 2
Grease your scalp at least three times a week. Greasing your scalp will help maintain the moisture in your hair. Moisture is the key to soft and glowing hair. You can also hydrate your hair by washing it at least every two weeks and using a good moisturizer and conditioner.

    Tip # 3
Go to your salon once a month and treat your hair to a protein treatment. Protein treatment strengths your hair cuticle, in turn strengthening your hair.

    Tip # 4
Trim or snip the ends of your hair to even. This gives your hair a nice appearance while getting rid of any damaged hair that you have.

    Tip # 5
Always sleep with some kind of protection over your hair. Before you go to sleep you can wrap your hair up in a satin cap or scarf to maintain your style and moisture.

The key to having beautiful hair is to maintain it. Make sure you do all you can to keep your hair glowing, even if it means treating yourself to a few salon visits!  We also have informational tips on how to choose the right salon for you.
