Sew-in weaves are excellent protective styles to rest and grow your real hair. However, there are some precautions to wearing extensions safely to ensure that you are not damaging your hair in the process. After all no one wants to wear beautiful hair extensions for a few months, only to have their real hair break of in the meantime. So to keep your hair healthy, follow these tips before installing your sew-in:
Wash Your Hair: Clean hair is the basic starting point for any sew-in weave hairstyle. Use a gentle clarifying shampoo to remove any buildup from the hair and scalp. Your hair will be largely inaccessible while we
To keep African American hair its healthiest, it must be moisturized regularly. While wearing a sew in weave, your real hair is braided with hair extensions sewn onto the braids, which can make keeping your real hair moisturized a bit challenging. Luckily, because your hair is close to your scalp and your bodyâs natural oils (sebum) and hidden from the environment, it does not require moisturizing as often as when it is loose. To moisturize your hair while wearing a sew in, we recommend using your favorite leave in conditioner spray. Gently lift the wefts and spray the conditioner between the tracks. A great tip is to keep your conditioner chilled in the refrigerator so you will be able to feel if you are reaching your hair and scalp and not just applying the product to your hair extensions. To see exactly how to do this, check out this great video demonstration from vlogger EbonyCPrincess.

Taking your weave down can be a real chore, particularly if you have adjusted to the low maintenance of a sew in; if you do not take them down properly you can cause breakage and lose a lot of hair and length. Here are our tips for how to safely take down your weave.
Wash and condition your sew in the week before removal. We recommend washing and conditioning your weave regularly to keep your hair healthy the entire time you are wearing your sew in, but doing it the week before the take down helps eliminate dirt and grime which can complicate the process.

As many of our customers realize, virgin Indian hair extensions have the versatility of being custom colored after purchase. So, you have the option to wear your hair in its natural off black/dark brown color for one weave installation and then later coloring the hair for a completely different look with another sew in look if you so desire just as an example. This is just one of the many advantages to investing in quality virgin Indian hair.
However, some women are novices to hair coloring and do not have clear expectations on how the hair will change after coloring. Whenever you color your virgin hair extensions, the hair is no longer v

Oceanfront vacations are always fun but no one wants to cart a bunch of hair care products in their beach bag! On the other hand, a day on the beach could cause irreparable damage if proper care is not taken, which is completely unnecessary because beach hair is sexy and fun.

Although we have posted articles on how to wash your weave before,we realize that some ladies are visual learners. We came across a great video tutorial from YouTube vlogger EbonyCPrincess that demonstrates not only how to shampoo your weave, but also reach your real hair beneath the extensions and keep tangles at bay:

It seems like box braids have returned with a vengeance as one of the hot new hairstyles.  Janet Jackson, who is the reason for the phrase âPoetic Justice braids", was recently spotted rocking her signature âdo and R&B superstar Brandy returned to the style in her video for Put It Down. Box braid hairstyles are very low maintenance and as summertime approaches, it will be perfect poolside hair!

Closures are becoming increasingly popular, but many women still do not understand their purpose. Closures hairpieces are specialized hair pieces in which the strands are hand-tied to a lace or silk base. The result is a piece that is sewn down to your braided hair that may be parted freely in any direction for a natural appearance without having to leave ANY of your natural hair exposed. There are many advantages of wearing a closure with your weave including:

Not properly caring for your weave can not only leave your hair looking (and smelling!) less than optimal but it can actually damage your real hair beneath. Â Of course it is important to keep your hair shampooed and conditioned, but there are a few other tricks to keep your weave looking fresh as the day you had it installed!

Iâll admit when I first started seeing some of my favorite celebrities and even fellow bloggers rocking oversized wayfarer frames, Steve Urkel immediately came to mind! Funny as Urkelâs antics on the classic sitcom Family Matters were, a fashion icon he is not! However, as the popularity of ânerd glassesâ increased, my opinion changed; I now own not just one but two pair of plastic oversized glasses! Although I donât believe this look is here to stay, I feel extremely cute and trendy when I pull those frames out.
One of the problems with wearing quality human hair extensions is that they never look bad if you care for them properly.  Good problem to have, right?  Let me explain - back in the day, with beauty supply store hair, women judged when their weaves needed to be taken out by how it looked. The hair became stringy or lost its luster, or the shedding and tangling was unbearable.  You will face neither issue while wearing Perfect Locks hair extensions, which means you cannot gauge your weaveâs expiration date by how your hair looks.

It seems like everyone and their brother is jumping into the hair weave game, weâve seen bundle deals for as low as $90 for 20â. With tempting offers like that, why would anyone find it worth while to purchase more expensive hair?
Well it is extremely important to purchase your virgin Indian hair from a reputable company. Otherwise while you may save a few dollars in the short term, over time the hair claimed to be virgin will most likely not last beyond one installation, if that. Why? Because a lot of vendors claiming to offer âvirginâ hair are actually receiving their product through a third party Chinese man

Bangs are the easiest way to update or change your look without having to make a drastic change to y our hair such as a new cut or color. Â There are many popular bang styles, everything from feminine and flirty to dramatic and edgy. Kinky curly hair is one of the hottest trends of the tear, being seen on too many celebrities to count but it is fair to say big hair is in!  This look is definitely a showstopper, sure to turn heads and is for those who wish to make a statement with their hair.

Machine and hand-tied wefted hair extensions are popular among African American and Latino women because their hair is coarser and strong enough to thrive while being braided and having extensions sewn on.  But for Caucasian and Asian women, that process can actually do more harm than good because typically your hair is a bit thinner.  A great choice of hair extensions for fine haired ladies would be either keratin bonded or tape extensions.
Keratin bonded hair extensions, also called I-tipped extensions or fusion hair extensions, are normally installed using a strand by strand method either through a hea
While wearing hair extensions used to have a slightly negative stigma, women (and even men) today have embraced the versatility and advantages of faux hair. Whether it is to enhance your length or volume, change your color or texture, preserve and protect your hair, or some other reason â hair extensions can be a fun and convenient addition to your styling repertoire. That being said, there are still women who are hesitant to wear full head weaves. Maybe you do not want a long term commitment, perhaps your scalp is too sensitive to remain braided, or just maybe you are a novice to weave wearing and have a bit of uncertainty. If this is you, Perfect Locks clip in hair extensions are the perfect solution!
Clip in hair extensions have the benefit of being a non-damaging, temporary way to add length, color, or volume to your tresses. Perfect Locks Clip In Hair Extensions comes with ten pieces of va
Many ladies suffer from dry, itchy scalps prior to installing a sew in weave and not being able to easily reach your scalp can exacerbate the situation. There are even women who want the ease, freedom and versatility weaves provide but refuse to get them because they anticipate their scalp will be miserable being braided for several weeks. Fret not, there are ways to solve an itchy scalp while wearing a sew in weave that will leave your head feeling cleansed and refreshed.
First of all, irritable scalps can originate from the installation process. Shampoo and condition your hair thoroughly before having your sew in done. During the installation, make sure your br

Of course it's nice to feel beautiful and look beautiful; our world is filled with the mentality that beauty and fashion is important. If you are a beautiful African American woman you no doubt love your hair, whether you choose to keep it natural or incorporate a weave or hair extensions from time to time. In other words, your perfect locks have a lot to do with who you are today and who your ancestors were back then too.

Hello Lockettes, were you able to watch the Grammys this past Sunday? What were your thoughts?
