When midnight rolls around on New Years Eve, you’re going to hope to have the most kissable lips in the room, in case you’re looking for some lucky guy to help you ring in the New Year in the hottest way. Lipstick and gloss can be tricky if you want to get it right. You want to make sure your lips are kissably soft and well-colored without smearing lipstick all over someone else. Some of the color-stay lipstick varieties can dry out your lips, but other options may not last long enough to extend throughout the entire evening. Here are some tips and tricks for having the most kissable lips to bring in the new year.
Prep Your Lips
Your lips are missing a few of the things that other parts of your body have – sweat glands and oil glands. It’s easy to see why lip balms sell with such frequency. During the winter, it’s especially important to moisturize your lips. Use a humidifier at night to keep moisture in the air, and drink plenty of water. While most lip balms don’t actually moisturize your lips, they can help combat cold weather to keep your lips soft and supple.
You can purchase some excellent products to exfoliate your lips, but it’s also fairly easy to make a solution to do it at home. Exfoliation removes dead skin and allows other products to better penetrate your lips. Use a mixture of Vaseline, sugar, and honey, and scrub your lips with it for 2-3 minutes, then wipe your lips clean with a damp washcloth. Overnight, apply a coat of moisturizing lip balm to your lips, and when you awake, they will be soft and moisturized.
Applying Lipstick and Gloss
Choose a high-end lipstick or gloss. Most high-end options will contain ingredients that will help your lips remain soft and supple, rather than extracting the moisture from your lips. To ensure the color will last all evening, line your lips with a matching liner, and fill in your lips with the liner. This will give your lips an excellent base coat, and hold on the color all evening. Use a non-smearing lipstick or gloss in the same color to cover the liner, and finish off the look with a smooth gloss. Avoid glosses that are heavy. Your mouth will be kissably beautiful!
